Following the birth of her child, she opened her private piano studio. Teaching children music has always been important to Emilia. She had worked at Music School in Saint Petersburg as a piano teacher and accompanist when she was in College and Conservatory.

As her son grew up, she built a piano studio in Cupertino. Emilia believes that all arts are interconnected and all professionals need to grow and expand in areas of art. Singing was one of the closest interests in which she decided to excel. Any good pianist always wants the piano sound to be compared to the human voice. Singing became her passion. With her new passion, she felt that she is becoming a better piano player and piano teacher, as well.

Writing short stories became another passion. Oil painting came next. She never painted before, and for Emilia began to turn sound into colors. The journey was so incredible that it took all free time and later it took time of teaching as well. This activity became extremely vigorous and at this point in her life she took time out from teaching piano and started painting full time.

A few years later she was approached by a friend to help him with Steinway Society -The Piano Concerts Organization. She joined the Board of Directors and worked for the Artistic Committee. The work was about organizing the upcoming concert seasons, and choosing pianists to play solo recitals during the concert season. This experience was absolutely incredible; she got to listen to myriads of great pianists in concerts and on YouTube whom she later met in person. Emilia hosted many of them at her house. From this point, the desire to go back to teaching became obvious as it was a great opportunity to share with the younger generation all acquired knowledge from her professional training and hobbies.

Now, Mrs. Emilia is back to teaching piano at her music studio in Saratoga.

The Studio is equipped with two Grand Pianos. Mrs. Emilia works with each student individually concentrating on every student’s progress, tailoring a student’s progress to the individual abilities.

After a year of studying at Emilia’s Piano Studio, students are able to play moderately complicated classical songs written by old and contemporary composers. Students are taught good piano technique which helps their expressive playing, quick sight-reading, and proper counting from their first lessons.

The learning process is vigorous and exciting for the kids and their parents, as well. Parents take an important role in their children’s piano learning process and are encouraged to be present during piano lessons, to take videos and notes.

Students are prepared for Studio recitals, Certificate of Merit Exams and other upcoming events offered by MTAC and other music organizations. For Studio Recitals each student is prepared to play several songs from different music époques, such as baroque, classical, romantic, etc. Each student program is assigned according to the child’s abilities without any unnecessary pressure.

According to Mrs. Emilia’s students and parents, the learning experience at her studio and individual home practice is a lot of fun!
